URGENT ACTION ALERT
JOIN CINDY SHEEHAN IN CRAWFORD, TEXAS

Cindy Sheehan, co-founder of Gold Star Families for Peace,
as she waits to meet Pres. Bush in Crawford, Texas

By now most of you probably know about Cindy Sheehan and her effort taking place in Crawford, Texas. If not we've provided a bit of a brief below, in hopes that you can help in some way.

Cindy Sheehan is a co-founder of Gold Star Families for Peace, an organization made up of military family members who have lost loved ones in the war in Iraq. In April 2004, Cindy's 24 year old son Casey was killed while on duty in an incident in Sadr City.

On August 3rd, following the deaths of 20 marines, President Bush said, "We have to honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission." "The families of the fallen can be assured that they died for a noble cause." In response to these statements Cindy, along with other Gold Star Families for Peace members, decided to go down to Crawford, Texas, where President Bush is vacationing, to confront him on these statements. She has vowed to stay outside the President's ranch until he meets with her, or until he heads back to Washington D.C. As Cindy wrote:

"1) We want our loved ones sacrifices to be honored by bringing our nation's sons and daughters home from the travesty that is Iraq IMMEDIATELY, since this war is based on horrendous lies and deceptions. Just because our children are dead, why would we want any more families to suffer the same pain and devastation that we are.

    2) We would like for him to explain this "noble cause" to us and ask him why Jenna and Barbara are not in harm's way, if the cause is so noble.

    3) If George is not ready to send the twins, then he should bring our troops home immediately. We will demand a speedy withdrawal.""

At PEACE PLEASE our aim to be non-partisan, for truly peace is not Democratic or Republican, Liberal, Labor or Conservative or any other party attachment but, quite simply, human. Latest poll findings in the U.S. would affirm this, with over 60% of Americans questioning the U.S. presence in Iraq. PEACE PLEASE believes that Cindy - and the world's citizens - deserve a response from President Bush to her questions, and are committed to supporting her in any way we can.

Numerous people have been joining Cindy in Crawford, including other mothers who have lost children in Iraq, and the strength remains in the numbers. If there is any way for you to get to Crawford to join with Cindy and the others it would be a wonderful thing. Crawford is about 2 hours from Dallas and a similar distance from Austin, and about 200 miles from Houston.

A web site - Meet with Cindy.org - has been started by supporters which provides frequent updates on the situation in Crawford; directions on getting to Crawford, as well as information on other ways you can help the effort (calling the White House, contacting the media, making donations for food and other supplies on the ground, etc.). We urge you to visit the site and contribute in any way you can. Again, the web site is www.meetwithcindy.org.

Thanks for whatever you can do to help Cindy and the Gold Star Members for Peace in this effort. More than 125,000 Iraqis and over 2,000 coalition soldiers have been killed in this war. Let's join with Cindy in trying to make these deadly tolls stop now.
